17 State Representatives Endorse Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark for GA-13

LILBURN, GA– Today, Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark (D-Lilburn), a microbiologist, Emory University biology professor, and candidate for Congress, announced that her campaign for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District has been endorsed by 17 of her State House colleagues for her first round of endorsements.

​

“I am proud to have the endorsement of such a strong group of leaders in the Georgia State House. We’ve worked closely together, holding the line and fighting back against Republicans in order to build a better Georgia. They know me well and I’m honored that they are placing their trust in me to fight for Georgia in Washington”, said Rep. Dr. Clark.

“I have represented the district adjacent to Rep. Clark and have seen the work that she does both in her district and for the state as a whole," said Rep. Karen Bennett. “Jasmine is the fighter we need at this moment to give not just Gwinnett County but all of the 13th District representation in Washington that we can be proud of.

“As a colleague and seatmate of Jas , I have seen first hand how diligently she reads every piece of legislation that comes to the House floor for a vote” said Rep. Solomon Adesanya, who also serves as Treasurer of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus. “That is who we need in Congress to ensure informed decisions that truly reflect the needs of Georgians. That is why I am supporting her campaign.

ABOUT JASMINE CLARK

​

Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2018, flipping a Gwinnett County seat that had been long held by a Republican incumbent. Since then, she has been a leading Democratic voice in the legislature, standing up for science, abortion rights, and healthcare as the Republican majority aggressively sought to roll back rights. Dr. Clark earned her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Emory University and completed a postdoctoral project in HIV research. In addition to her legislative service, Dr. Clark serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology, working with undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students. Born and raised in Georgia and a longtime resident of Lilburn, Jasmine is raising her daughter, Jayda, who attends Gwinnett County Public Schools, and her son Jacobe who is a sophomore in college. She is a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Lilburn.
