Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark, Candidate for Georgia's 13th Congressional District, Headlines "No Kings"Protest in Atlanta
“In biology, we would consider Donald Trump a parasite”, Rep. Clark exclaimed to a crowd of over 5,000 protesters

ATLANTA, GA– Today, Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark (D-Lilburn), who is running against a field that includes US Rep. David Scott for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, headlined the “No Kings” protest in Downtown Atlanta. As a microbiologist, educator, and a State Representative, Dr. Clark used her unique experience to call out Donald Trump.
“Since I teach microbiology, I’m going to go ahead and give Trump a little science lesson,” Dr. Clark exclaimed, to a roaring applause. “In biology, we would consider Trump a parasite. Parasites cling to their hosts and literally suck the life out of it. Trump is a parasite to our Constitution, a parasite to our economy, and a parasite to our health and our safety. But we the people are the immune response.”

Dr. Clark announced her campaign for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District in suburban Atlanta on June 2nd. Since then, she announced that her campaign raised over $100,000 from more than 1600 individual donors, making her the frontrunner to be the next Congresswoman from the 13th District. In contrast, Rep. Scott, who has served since 2003, only raised $72,000, over 95% of which came from corporate PACs.

Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2018, flipping a Gwinnett County seat that had been long held by a Republican incumbent. Since then, she has been a leading Democratic voice in the legislature, standing up for science, abortion rights, and healthcare as the Republican majority aggressively sought to roll back rights. Dr. Clark earned her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Emory University and completed a postdoctoral project in HIV research. In addition to her legislative service, Dr. Clark serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology, working with undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students. Born and raised in Georgia and a longtime resident of Lilburn, Jasmine is raising her daughter, Jayda, who attends Gwinnett County Public Schools, and her son Jacobe who is a freshman in college. She is a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Lilburn.
