Rep. David Scott Fails to Vote Again, Despite Being Publicly Called Out by Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark
Rep. Scott failed to vote in City of Atlanta municipal runoffs on Dec 2, marking
the seventh straight election he has skipped

LILBURN, GA– Today, Rep. Dr. Jasmine Clark (D-Lilburn), a microbiologist, Emory University biology professor, and candidate for Congress, calls out Rep. David Scott for not casting a vote in Tuesday’s elections, despite the massive public outcry when Rep. Clark discovered that Rep. Scott had previously skipped six straight elections, including the 2024 Presidential election.
“With the attacks on education at the federal level, and concerns with proposed school closures and public funding of private schools at the local level, this week’s runoff elections for Atlanta School Board have major implications for many Georgia students and families. Once again, Rep. Scott did not show up for Georgians at the ballot box,” said Rep. Dr. Clark. “Even after constituents expressing serious concerns that he had not voted in the six previous elections, Rep. Scott chose to skip another important election. With everything that is happening in our nation, there is no election that is too small or insignificant where our elected leaders should not participate. Unlike every other member in the GA Congressional Delegation that did have elections, Rep. Scott has unfortunately failed to show up once again.”
“As a public servant, but also as a mom of a public school student, education is always a key issue for me. When I talk to constituents about what’s important to them, education always rises to the top. I know firsthand the power the school board has over decisions that affect thousands of students, teachers, and administrative staff. We need our leaders from local, to state, to federal to care. We need them to do all they can to stand up for and invest in strong, public education. It’s disheartening that once again, we see that we can’t count on Rep. Scott to do that.”
On December 2nd, the City of Atlanta held a runoff for the Post 8 Seat on the Atlanta School Board, a citywide election which held massive implications for the future of education in Atlanta. Despite multiple options to vote by mail, vote early, or on Election Day, Rep. Scott chose yet again to skip this election, sending a message to his constituents and neighbors that he doesn’t care about the future of education in his city.
